The Grinch is an unpleasant and revengeful cave-dwelling creature. He
has a very small heart and lives on Mount Crumpet, a steep mountain,
which is 10,000 feet high. Grinch is very jealous of the 'Whos', the
people living in 'Whoville', a town situated to the north of Mount
Crumpet. The Whos are very warm and fun loving people and Grinch is
envious of their happiness. The only companion that he has is Max, a
faithful, but dumb, dog. Christmas season is approaching and Grinch
watches the Whos making merry and taking part in the festivities. Their
happy voices make him more and more resentful.
Green with envy, Grinch decides to prevent the Christmas season from
coming, by robbing all the Christmas presents and decorations of the
Whos. He descends to the town, commits robbery and runs away with all
their gifts and embellishments. However, he sees that even though he has
stolen everything that the Whos had accumulated for Christmas, the
holiday still came. Thus, he realizes that Christmas is more than just
gifts and presents. His heart grows larger and he returns all the gifts
and decorations. The Whos then warmly welcome the Grinch into their
community.
